Dawn Michelle Hardy is an award-winning publicist and highly sought-after publishing consultant. She transitioned from fashion merchandising to her healthy career in book publishing in 2002. In 2004 she leaped into entrepreneurship and formed Dream Relations PR & Literary Consulting Agency where she aids authors in platform building and promoting their work in book and film to their target audience. Many of her independently published and small press authors have received national media attention including featured interviews with Publishers Weekly, Boston Globe, Salon.com, Democracy Now, Guidepost, MSNBC, Glamour and Essence.
After her 9th year in the publishing industry, Dawn expanded her resume and joined Serendipity Literary Agency in 2011. In her role as an agent she has built a list of memorable non-fiction titles including Forgotten Burial: A Restless Spirits Plea from the Grave by Jodi Foster which was adapted for television by the SYFY channel and Not a Game: The Incredible Rise and Unthinkable Fall of Allen Iverson by Kent Babb which was named ‘one of the best sports books of 2015’ by Publishers Weekly.
In a 2013 ‘Cool Jobs’ profile with Ebony magazine, Dawn was branded as ‘the literary lobbyist’ for her passionate work in bringing the books of creatives and thought leaders to market. Several of her clients have earned multiple awards and distinctions for their works including New York Times Bestseller, Phyllis Wheatley Award, USA Best Book Award, Eric Hoffer Award, The White House ‘Champions of Change’ honor, NAACP Image Award finalist, PEN Literary Award finalist and a Netflix film adaptation.
Called a “powerhouse who shares industry truths” by Upscale magazine Dawn is a frequent podcast guest, webinar and conference presenter who teaches on platform building, proposal writing and the best practices for securing a traditional book deal. She is a member of the NAACP Image Award Literary Committee, has been featured in The Guide to Literary Agents and has served as a member of Women in Media Group. An avid sports fan, Dawn is extremely proud of her forthcoming project Beyond Broadway Joe: The Superbowl Team that Changed Football by Bob Lederer publishing this Fall with Dey Street/Harper Collins.
