Special thanks to our friends at
for sponsoring the 2017 Bridging the Gap Awards.
Slice Literary is dedicated to bridging the gap between emerging writers and the professional publishing world. This competition is one of many ways we work to achieve that goal. The judges are leading book editors and agents, who are all committed to discovering and championing new voices.
Slice Literary Writers’ Conference attendees are invited to submit a story, an essay, or a poem to the Bridging the Gap Competition. The judges will select one winner in each category. Winners will each receive a $100 award. Winners will be announced at the conference on Saturday, September 9, in Founders Hall, at 1:40pm, right before our feature talk with Angela Flournoy and Hannah Tinti.
Conference attendees will receive a link to submit their work online.
Guidelines: One submission per attendee. Stories and essays should not exceed 5,000 words. Do not include your name on the document. In the header, please clearly mark your entry as fiction, nonfiction, or poetry.
Please submit your entry no later than Friday, August 18, to have your work considered.
